Land the Ending!
No ending, no play. The last second of your Post matters more than any other.
In short
- Every run must end with one
reportResultcall, or the play doesn't count.- Stars are automatic, and a three-star result reaches the player's followers for free.
- Write flavor text players want to share, and test the ending on your phone.
One call ends the run
Every Post finishes the same way: your game reports a result with reportResult, exactly once, when the run is over. That single call is the finish line.
From there, the Minit Games app takes over. It shows the result screen, the stars, the replay option and the share button. You don't build any of that yourself: no "Game Over" menu, no "Play again" button, no score table. Your job is to reach the ending and say how it went.
No result, no play
Here is the part that surprises people: if your game never reports a result, the play does not count.
No XP for the player. No stars. No achievements. And to the feed, a player who taps NEXT before your game reports anything is only a weak signal, never a completed play. Find Your Players! explains what the feed measures.
So make sure every run actually reaches an ending, whether the player wins, loses, or runs out of time. A game that can stall forever, or that hides its finish behind one more tap, quietly loses plays it already earned.
Warning: Test the ending on your phone, not just in a browser. A result that fires on your desktop but not on a touch screen costs you every play on the app. Testing Your Game on Device shows how to get it onto your phone.
Stars are automatic
In score- and time-based Games, players earn up to three stars per Post. You don't set the thresholds: Minit Games works them out by comparing each result with recent results on the same Post. Each Post ranks on its own, so an easy Post and a hard one can score on completely different scales (Build to Post! explains).
Each star is worth 10 XP to the player. A brand-new Game may show no rating at first, because there aren't enough results yet to compare against. That settles by itself as people play.
The best part: when a player gets three stars, their followers get a nudge: "Three stars. Can you beat it?" That's free reach for your Post, triggered by your best players. Turn Players into Fans! shows how to make the most of it.
Flavor text is your punchline
Alongside the result you can send a short line of flavor text, up to 64 characters. It shows up on the result pill, in the share message, and on activity cards.
Make it specific and make it funny. "You won!" is wasted space. Try something only this run could say:
- "Dodged 14 cannonballs and one existential crisis"
- "Saved the cat. Lost the hat."
- "Three moves from perfect"
Players screenshot and share lines they enjoy. Generic lines get scrolled past.
Soften the early fall
If a player can fail in the first few seconds, consider giving them one gentle retry before you report the result. A quick "Whoops, go again" keeps them in the run long enough to understand your game, and a player who stays to the finish is worth far more than one who bounces.
Keep it to one retry. After that, land the ending.
